I finally eition to move to third party hacks, namely Nero Lite and Nero Micro. Both support my Nero licence. Of course these are not supported by Nero, but they are supported by the author. I have had no nero 8 ultra edition 8.3.6.0 (full + key) free using the Micro version for the last six months and just updated to version 8. Home of Nero Lite.
If you use Nero 8 Ultra, have you tried using the internal update mechanism nego simply download the required updates?
The internal update mechanism is supposed to download only the updated files I'm only asking because I don't know if you or anyone else has ever tried updating that way? I have Nero 8 Ultra but have never updated it yet by either method so I don't know if it would work?
I did the update through Nero Control Center. Guess what? Uninstalled, rebooted, downloaded MB, installed, rebooted. Total of 48 minutes. This fdition what they call an "update. This past year I finally spent the money and bought Nero 8 after years of telling myself that "one of these days" I was actually going to get Nero or Roxio, since so many people over the years had such good things to say about them.

Too many times the thing has crapped out mid-burn, hung up on something, or just won't run a particular module. Updating the thing is a joke, with the huge, time-consuming downloads, and the fact that modules reset themselves to autostart with Windows even though I had previous set the options for that not to occur. The only thing I use it for (fulk is to burn. I was a huge Nero fan edituon years versions 5, 6 and 7 but I just don't like version 8. The one thing I have found that is a real pain with Nero though is the incredibly slow download times experienced from their servers. Howie is correct in that it seems every time an update has been rolled out, users must redownload an entire mgb file, after which the previous version is uninstalled and the new update version applied.
Took me over half an hour for the whole process this morning, and I've got a pretty fast internet conection and PC. Understand what you're getting at as most applications will just update incrementally, and don't quite understand why Nero doesn't ediition so as well.
I always use the program's ulltra update feature rather then go to the web site directly; unfortunately the app still insists on страница these humongous files.
Perhaps it's just edltion way Nero is designed ket) insists the entire older version of a previous (vull be removed before the newer version is installed. Frankly, can't remember just getting a small update to the program in the last few years. I do know that upon checking for an update yesterday, the system told me a newer version was available for keg) feature of the application I have installed.
